The son of Allen & Barbara (Berkey) Floyd, in 1860 he was a laborer presumably living in or about Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, although he is not found in that census. He stood 5' 6" tall and had dark hair and black eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 29, 1864, mustered into federal service there August 30 as a private with Co. I, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.
Cause of death is listed as "lobar pneumonia" with "old age arteriosclerosis" a contributing factor.
When Michael Allen Floyd was born on November 22, 1846, in Upper Allen, Pennsylvania, his father, Allen, was 45 and his mother, Barbara, was 40. He married Janet Hicks in 1875. They had three children in 10 years. He died on March 17, 1931, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of 84, and was buried there.[2]
