Sarah Jane Flynn was born on 25 Oct 1829 in Fauquier County, VA. She was the daughter of George and Evelina (Wilson) Flynn.).^[1]

Sarah married Elijah Griffith on January 30, 1847 in Fauquier County, VA. Sarah and Elijah had at least eight children James Franklin Griffith (1847–1930), May Marshall Griffith (1852–1921), Hugh Griffith (1856–1856), Travers Herndon Griffith (1858–1925), Sarah Ashby Griffith Anderson (1862–1949), Ernest M. Griffith (1864–1923), Edward Lee Griffith (1867–1939) and Elijah W. Griffith (1871–1882).

Sarah died about September 26, 1896 in Fauquier County, VA.
