Biography

Sailed on the Apelles to New Zealand. Was joined in Waimate by his brother Michael and Sister Mary. Worked as a contractor and then Farmer in later years. He never learn't to read or write and this led to a differance of opinion with his brother - which in the end led to a family split.

John died in Waimate on the 3 October 1923. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

He is buried in the Roman Catholic Section of the Waimate Old Cemetery. His grave is in plot 383. The headstone shows the 4 October as the death date, whereas New Zealand Births Deaths and Marriages, and the newspaper announcement show the 3 October. ^[4]
