Biography

Mary Follett was born in 1875 in South Petherton, Somerset, England,^[1] the daughter of James Follett and Mary Salter.

She was christened on 7 February 1875 in South Petherton.^[2]

The Follett family set sail from Plymouth, England on 5 Jul 1878 aboard the ship, Oaklands and arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia on 21 Sep 1878. The family consisted of James (age 25, an agricultural labourer) and Mary (27) and their children, George (5), Mary (3) and infant, Ellen.^[3][4]

She married James Follett in 1905 in Victoria.^[5] Their children were:

• Raymond John Follett (1905–?)^[6]
• Clarence Salter Follett (1908–1909)^[7]
• Myra Evelyn Follett (1909–?)^[8]
• Edward George Follett (1911–?)^[9]
• Joyce Mary Follett (1917–?)^[10]

James died in 1961.^[11]

Mary died in 1966 in Cheltenham, Victoria.^[12] Her remains were buried at the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery.^[13]
