Biography

Francoise Fontenot has French origins.

Marie Francoise "Fanchonnette" Fontenot, daughter of Henri Fontenot and Marie Louise Doucet, was born about 1774 in Spanish Louisiana, based on information in the 1777 Spanish census of the Opelousas Post.[1]

She married Pierre Pitre in Opelousas, Louisiana in 1790.[2]

  2. Adelaide Pitre (1792)
  3. Joseph Pierre Pitre (1794)

Pierre died c.1794.

After Pierre's death, she married Pierre Nicolas Forest, son of Jacques LaForet and Marguerite Comaux, in 1795.[3][4]

Pierre Foret died after 1813, before 1816.

After her second husband Pierre's death, she married the widower Jean Baptiste Jeansonne in Opelousas, in 1817.[14]

  1. Caroline Jeansonne (1817)[15]

Her third husband predeceased her. She died at an unknown date after his succession was filed in August of 1822-- the last document we have for her.[16]
