Biography

Benjamin Fontenot, son of Francois Fontenot and Arthemise Guillory, was born on 8 April 1841, his birth was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1] He appeared on the census of 22 Oct. 1850 in the home of his parents at St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[2]

He married Matilda Pitre, daughter of Onesime Pitre and Azelise Joubert, on 15 Jan. 1870 and 25 Jan. 1870 their marriage was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1]

Benjamin and Matilda were married a second time on December 29, 1879 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1]
