Biography

Jacques Fontenot Sr has French origins.

Jacques Fontenot, son of Philippe Fontenot and Marie Jeanne Brignac, was born c.1753 at French Fort Toulouse in the pays d'Alibamons, Nouvelle-France. In 1763 when France lost most of its New World holdings to England and decommissioned Fort Toulouse, most of its French inhabitants, including his family, migrated west to Louisiana.

He married Eulalie Doucet at the Opelousas Post in Louisiana in 1777.[1]

Two of the listed children were born after his death and are showing as data base errors.

Julien Louis Jacques, the youngest, was born decades after the deaths of both Jacques and Eulalie. He now has sources that substantiate his c.1841 DOB, so he needs to be disconnected from Jacques and Eulalie. Just going by the way the priests often used to add a father's name to a child's as their way of keeping things straight, I would guess that Louis Jacques Fontenot might be the actual father, and start researching there.
