Biography

Jonas Foot was born on 26th April 1838 in Portland Head, New South Wales (Australia), the son of Mary Ann Foot and Jonas Foot. [1]

Jonas was a farmer

He was a farmer, at the front (as was his father also) pushing for a reduction in transport costs for their produce at a community meeting in 1867. [2]

Aged 41 years, Jonas married Fanny Jane Boyce on 5th February 1879 in Raymond Terrace, New South Wales. [3] They had six daughters and two sons, losing one of each in infancy (the first and last-born):

"Suffering an incurable malady, and was to have gone to the hospital for incurables", Jonas died by hanging himself on 17th December 1897 in Seaham, New South Wales. He was aged 59 years. [5][6][7]
