Biography

She was born May 26, 1897 in Stratford, Perth Co. Ontario and she registered her own birth on March 8, 1966 in Toronto.^[1]

Her father was George Joseph Foot born in Glasgow, Scotland and her mother was Eva Clara Brown born in Bowmanville, Ontario.

The 1901 census shows her with George, Eva, and 3 siblings.^[2]

By 1911 Herbert and Edwin were gone and the family added Eva (9), Thelma (6), and Francis (2). Fredricka from 1901 was shown as Fred.^[3]

Alice lived in Guelph and Berlin, Ontario. Her father was a wood finisher in a furniture factory.

Alice Maria Foot and Johnstone Douglass Urquhart both went to Toronto after the war to find work. They had known each other for quite a long time because Johnstone was a good friend of one of Alice's brothers. He was 34 and a salesman at Simpson's when he married the 27 year old stenographer Alice Maria Foot in Sept. 1924. A Justice of the Peace performed their ceremony in Toronto.^[4]

They had 2 daughters Josephine and Elinor.

According to the 1974 voters list she was alone and retired and living in Broadview, Ontario. Broadview is around Scarborough, Toronto.

She died in 1976, likely in Broadview, Ontario. She shares a headstone with her husband and daughter Josephine.^[5]
