Predeceased by her parents, James and Annie Forbes and her brother, James Forbes Jr. (Hilda). She is survived by her husband, Benton Mackid of Calgary; her daughters, Daphne McKeen and Mimi (McKeen) Cooke; her step-children, Court (Linda) Mackid and Corliss Mackid; her brother, Monty (Connie) Forbes; her grandchildren, Toby Ward and Gus Ward, Orejona Ashton and Jonathan-David Ashton, Jennifer and Christian Mackid and Christina Carter; great- grandchildren, Rachel and Caroline Ward and Gabriel Martinez. Dory was born In Winnipeg and graduated from St. Mary's Academy and the Toronto Conservatory of Music. She was the first woman passenger agent for Air Canada, then TCA. During the war she met and married RCAF Fl. Lt. Fred S. McKeen. They moved to Vancouver where their daughters were born and Dory found a niche in the West Coast lifestyle. They were divorced in 1959, after which, Dory travelled around the world solo, skiing in Switzerland, riding camels in Egypt and having other brave and scary adventures. Dory was an active member of The Junior Leagues of Vancouver and Calgary. An enthusiastic sportswoman, Dory was equally at home playing golf and tennis, skiing on Grouse Mountain or waterskiing in local waters. She was a member of the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club and The Victoria Golf Club. Dory loved to travel and together with her husband Benton, whom she married in 1962, enjoyed many adventures all over the globe as well as winters in Palm Desert. After several years in Calgary, she and Benton moved to Vancouver Island to enjoy his retirement among their golfing and boating friends. Dory outlived most of her friends; however her family will miss her especially for her generosity, her sense of humour and fair play. Dory accepted old age with grace, dignity and humour. She was a really good sport. The family would like to thank the caregivers and nursing staff at Sunrise in Victoria and a special thank you to Linda Lukow for all of her special attention to Mum.
