Hi MaryAnn!

Welcome to the Appalachia Project - Central Appalachia Team!

When you have the chance, please add your specific Central Appalachia interests next to your name on our Central Team page. This could be specific locations, timeframes, or names that your are researching so others can help.

The next stop in membership is to review our Appalachia Welcome Page. This is a handy page with all our requirements for sourcing, what we highly recommend as a Project to help your WikiTree Journey, Project stickers, and more

Also, please review our Appalachia Project Reliable Sources. Our Project, and WikiTree, has strong requirements for sources because of so many "family stories" in and around Appalachia.

Want instant answers to questions? Want to be a part of the Appalachia community on WikiTree? Join our very popular Discord channel with chat, instant answers, and fun discussions about genealogy. Biscuits is the not so secret code word.

I am always available for any questions or help. Thanks for joining the team.

Hello, MaryAnn,

Welcome to the Appalachia Project - North Central Appalachia Team! When you have the chance, please add your North Central Appalachia interests next to your name on this page.  Also, please review our Reliable (and Unreliable) Sources for the Appalachia Project [1] to help with sourcing our Profiles as you add or come across them.  WikiTree requires valid sources on all Profiles and our Project has certain requirements for sources.  Check the Appalachia Stickers Page for tips on adding stickers to profiles. I am always available for any questions or help.  Thanks for joining the team. Karen, North Central Team Lead - Appalachia Project

Hi MaryAnn,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

MaryAnn, Welcome to the Military and War project. I awarded the badge for the project to you. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Military_and_War This is the upper level war project and covers the other wars. We do have project pages for each war.

The 1776 war does have its individual badge as welll as the Civil War project. They have separate listing.

Mary. Project Coordinator

Please read this page. There is a red chart on it with all of the wars listed with links. Then you can click on the links and see the project pages for each.

Dear MaryAnn,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.

The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

There are currently three different Biography Teams - The Biography Team, the Abandoned Team, and the Popular Team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team. The Biography Team works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them.

Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for your service and all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Thank you Mary Ann for your message on my page. I"m sure we are distant cousins through the Chatfields. When I discovered my connection to Louisa Alcott I watched the series, LIttle Men. I never read any of her works before. Also, thank you for your service to our nation. :) - James

Welcome to the Connectors Project! Be sure to check out the Connectors project page to see some of what we do, our To-Do lists which have folks who need connected to our Global Tree, and please add the connectors tag to your G2G feed. We've also got a great sub-project, Connectors Chat, where we talk about what we're working on and where we'd like to help out. If you're new to making connections and want some simplified connections to work on, look at our Connecting Buddies page. Thanks for joining us!
