Biography
Barney Ford married Mary Cole in St. Pauls Parish, Baltimore County, Maryland on September 8, 1783. The 1790 census in Baltimore County lists Barney Ford a wife, two sons, one daughter, and one slave.
Barney and Mary continued to live in Maryland until at least 1798. At that time or later, they moved to Washington County in the northeastern corner of Tennessee. Barney acquired a 300-acre track of land and a 150-acre track of land.[1]
Barney Ford died in Washington County, Tennessee before November 1807.[2] He left one-third of his estate to his wife. The other two-thirds was to be divided equally among his ten children. Thus, his widow received 150 acres and each of the children received 30 acres.
This land had been purchased from Peter Range for $1300. At the time that Barney died, $880 of this $1300 had been paid and $420 was still owed.

The record of the sale of his estate was filed at the February Session in February 1808. His widow, Mary, was named Administratrix and bought the majority of the items. Others purchasing items were: Horatio Ford, John Beckering, John Norwood, Jacob Horse, Jacob Hoss (possibly the same men), John Malonee, John Ellis, Jonathan Tipton, John Boring, Amos Boring, Joseph Young, Jacob Hammer, Mordecai Ford.[3]
