Biography

Betsy Ford was born in 1806, the daughter of Elisha Ford and Salome Wescomb. Her exact date of birth was calculated from her age on her death record, i.e. 66 years, 6 months, 1 day.

In 1850, Saloma/e Ford, age 79, is residing in Orford, Grafton, New Hampshire, with Daniel Bailey, age 69, Betsey Bailey, age 44, Mary A C Bailey, age 10, and Sarah S Ford, age 52. Mary is attending school. ^[1]

Betsy (Ford) Bailey, the daughter of Salome (Wescomb) Ford and her husband Elisha, d. at age 66 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on 06 Feb 1873.

Betsy lost her husband, when Daniel died in the 1860s, probably at Orford, NH. Widow Betsey Bailey was living in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, James and Mary Ann Sanborn, at Sterling, MA when the 1870 census was taken. Betsey Bailey died 6 Feb. 1873 at 15 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA of dropsy and insanity, age 66. She was buried at Orford, NH as likely also was Daniel Bailey.
