George was born about 1848 in Chiselborough, Somersetshire, England. He was the son of Joseph Ford and Ann Gard.
George Ford migrated from England to Australia.
George came to Australia with his family aboard the vessel "Tantivy", which arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 3 Sep, 1854.[1] The following family members were onboard:

Ann Ford, aged 38 years, Native of Chiselborough, Somersetshire, England.
David Ford, aged 10 years, Native of Chiselborough, Somersetshire, England.
George Ford, aged 6 years, Native of Chiselborough, Somersetshire, England.
Joseph Ford, aged 3 years, Native of Chiselborough, Somersetshire, England.
He married Emma Whatman in 1871 at Berrima.[2] They had eight children.
George passed away on 7 Dec, 1922[3] at his residence, "Inglewood", Glenquarry, New South Wales, Australia, aged 75 years.[4] He was buried with his wife in Glenquarry Cemetery at Upper Mittagong, New South Wales, Australia.[5][6]
He left a family of two sons: Elwin (Kangaloon), and George Henry (Glenquarry), and four daughters: Mrs. W. Bunt (Kangaloon), Mrs. T. Mumberson (Moss Vale), Mrs J. Ford (Glenquarry), and Miss Ford (Glenquarry) to mourn his death.[4]
