James was born in 1734 to Reverand Arthur Forde and Alice Bailie. His father was the Rector at Lurgan, County Armagh, Ireland.[1] In 1784 James Forde and other seized seven pipes of brandy between Dundalk and Lurgan Green. [Saunder’s News-letter, 14 Dec 1784]
James married his first cousin Elizabeth Forde, on 10 November 1759. They were married at St. Anne's, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.[2]
James Forde died on 16 March 1803, and is buried at the Parish Church of St. Nicholas Churchyard, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.[3]

Here lieth the remains of James Forde, Esquire, late Collector of this Port, who departed this life the 16th of March 1803, aged 69 years.
