Biography

James was born in 1734 to Reverand Arthur Forde and Alice Bailie. His father was the Rector at Lurgan, County Armagh, Ireland.[1] In 1784 James Forde and other seized seven pipes of brandy between Dundalk and Lurgan Green. [Saunder’s News-letter, 14 Dec 1784]

Marriage

James married his first cousin Elizabeth Forde, on 10 November 1759. They were married at St. Anne's, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.[2]

Death and Burial

James Forde died on 16 March 1803, and is buried at the Parish Church of St. Nicholas Churchyard, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.[3]

Here lieth the remains of James Forde, Esquire, late Collector of this Port, who departed this life the 16th of March 1803, aged 69 years. James Forde Esq late Collector of this Port, buried 17 March 1803 at Dundalk. “Died, At Dundalk, on the 15th inst in the seventieth year of his age, James Forde Esq late Collector of that Port.” [Saunder’s News-letter, 19 March 1803] Died In Dundalk, on the 15th inst James Forde the elder, Esq.
