Doris was the daughter of Albert Fordham and Annie Hammond
FORDHAM, DORIS AMELIA HAMMOND[1]
Doris worked in a haberdashery store but her natural creativity soon earned her job working as a milliner, making hats. Throughout her life she was praised for the lovely knitting, crocheting and embroidery work that she did so well. Her even temper and infectious sense of humour won the heart of Walter Ashdown and they were married on 19th February 1928 at St Andrew's Parish Church Newington London. Doris's father and brother Alfred were witnesses. The reception was held in the parlour of her own home, with roast beef and boiled ham on the menu (quite a luxury in those days).
