Biography

Marie Marguerite Foret, daughter of Jacques Forest and Marguerite Genevieve Comeau, was born 19 September 1764 at St Servan, France.[1] She was baptised at Saint-Servan the day she was born.[2]

She married Jean Baptiste Aucoin in France in 1784.[3]

Marie Foret is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, at Plaque 11R. She is listed with her husband, Jean Baptiste Aucoin, and their first child, Marie Jeanne. They are listed beside her father, Jacques Foret and her brother, Pierre. [4][1]

She arrived in New Orleans on "La Ville d'Archangel." on December 1785,[5]

Jean Baptiste AUCOIN, age 27, traveling with his wife Marie FOREST, age 20, and newborn daughter as the 18th family (of 3 persons) aboard "La Ville d'Archangel."

In 1797 she married Antoine Bellard in Opelousas, Louisiana.[6]
