Biography

Thomas was born in 1740 in Monmouth, New Jersey. He passed away on June 23, 1853.

Thomas Forman married Jane Throckmorton in Monmouth County, New Jersey on October 31, 1769.

Thomas Forman left New Jersey with his family and eighty slaves when he saw that abolitionist sentiment was growing in New Jersey, so he trekked across the mountains to Kentucky.

Thomas Forman was one of the first settlers of Washington Kentucky, which was the first place to be named for George Washington and which had the first post office west of the Appalachian Mountains.
