Biography

Jesse was born in 1833 in Bedford County, Tennessee. His parents were William Forrest and Miriam Beck. He was a younger brother of Nathan Bedbord Forrest. He moved with his family to Tippah County, Mississipi in 1834. His father died in 1837. His widowed mother and his older brothers worked clearing swampland for farming. In 1841 two of his brothers and all three of his sisters died from Typhoid Fever. His widowed mother remarried in December of that year to Joseph Luxon.

He was married to Sarah Rebecca Mabry. He was living in Memphis in 1860 and his occupation is negro trader. He was living in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee in 1870 and he was a livery stable keeper.
