Janet Forrester was born about 1344 in Corstorphine, Midlothian, Scotland. She was a daughter of Sir John "Libertine" Forrester, Lord of Corstorphine and his wife Jean Sinclair.
On 13th January 1424/5, at Edinburgh, a feu charter was made by Thomas de Somerville, Lord of Carnwarth in Lanarkshire, to Robert de Maxwell, son and heir to Sir Herbert de Maxwell Knt., Lord of Carlaverock, and Jonete, daughter of John Forestare, Lord of Corstorphine, of the lands of Libertoun in the barony of Carnwarth, which Sir Herbert has resigned. destination is to the male heirs legitimately procreated by Robert & Jonete, failing whom to the said heirs of Sir Herbert, failing whom to Amero de Maxwell brother of the said Herbert, etc.[1] This charter was doubtless concluded shortly after the marriage of Robert & Jonete.
Janet Forrester was the wife of Robert Maxwell, Lord Maxwell.[2]
