Helen was born in 1859 in Aberdour, Aberdeenshire.
She was a domestic servant working for Alexander and Margaret Murcar at Bank Head, Aberdour, Aberdeenshire in 1881 where she met and had a daughter, Helen Thomson Forsyth, with James Wood, in 1882 Tyrie, Scotland.
She later married Thomas Burnett in 1885. They had 4 children some of whom emigrated to Canada.
Helen passed away in 1897.
