Biography

Burwell Jackson "Jay" Fort II was born at Forts in Dallas County, Alabama, on 06 Apr 1827. He was a son of Burwell Jackson Fort and Charlotte Elizabeth Harrell. He married in Dallas County first Talitha Ann Averyt on 29 Oct 1846. They had 11 children. After her death he married Virginia Frances Tabb in Selma, Dallas County on 19 Jul 1877. They had no children. Jay was a merchant and farmer. He died on 26 Jun 1897 and was buried in the Marion Junction Community Cemetery in Dallas County.
