Michael, Audrey Quave Stockton was my maternal grandmother. If you descended from Juan de Cuevas of Cat Island fame, then we are related!

HEY MICHAEL!!! We went over to Baldwin county GA today and FINALLY got a super good picture of a tax record (the Atlanta archives microfilm is almost black it's deteriorated so badly!!) with Willis' name clear as a bell!!! It is for 1807. We checked 1808 and 1809, but didn't find him listed. We are also hot on the trail of some new Goslin information. Aunt Edna would be crazy if she could see what we are digging out. We still have NOT found a marriage record for Willis and Jane...... yet. ha ha We'll get there, though....

Hey Michael, I've always seen John's last name written as Falkenberry, which would make sense to me seeing as how most of his kids had the last name of Falkenberry as well. Is there documented proof of it going either way? I'm extremely curious.

In doing the research I need to figure out this letter of Gasua's, I've been pouring through everything I have already just to see if I can avoid sitting at my computer. I came across a picture in one of Daddy's photo albums.... do you know much about the Brock - Fortenberry relationship?

Thanks.... Teresa

Hey Michael, I'm a distant cousin of yours from the Alabama Falkenberry line. Your ancestor William Jasper Fortenberry was the brother of my 5th great grandfather Israel Falkenberry. Like you, I'm trying to add as much family to my tree as possible, including all the distant cousins. Let me know if you're interested in my Falkenberry information.

Hello, Michael. I received your message. About all I can say is to look for the book (probably public library) "The Fortenberry Families of Southern Mississippi" and see if you can find a connection there. Also, one of my sisters is maintaining a wordpress page where she (and sometimes I) post fun information about our Fortenberry family. Late last week, Andie posted a complete family line back to the 1500's based on her VERY WELL documented research. It takes a few read throughs, but is well worth the look. fortenberry.wordpress.com is her location. WE HAVE had the DNA test done and it can be found at the Family Tree DNA project under Fortenberry. Ours ended up right in the middle of the pack! Please understand that I am NEW to WikiTree!! I see where you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

Hi Michael,

You sent me this email in January:

Hi, I'm entering my data a little at a time. I was entering Jane Goslin 1785-1851 who married Willis Simmons 1784-1862 and whose daughter was Narcissa Simmons 1813-1890 and married to Calvin Kennington Fortenberry 1806-1877. I just wanted to see if your Jane Simons was the same person. thank you. Michael Ray Fortenberry (source; wikitree email dtd Jan 9, 2013)

Its apparently not the same person. I've updated my Jane Simmons and she is the wife of Jasper A Cunningham. The daughter of Abraham Simmons 1811 – 1888 & Mary Mullenax 1813 – 1860. I've opened up her privacy setting as well. Sorry about the delay. I'm way behind.
