James is the son of Andrew Fortier and Ann Reid. He was a professional landscape and portrait photographer located at Inverness, Québec, Canada. In a quirk without much explanation, he took a photograph of Eugène Codère in 1908, They were 6th cousins once removed. 50 years later his son Jacques Codère married Lorraine Smith, from whom I received what remained of his archive.
