Biography
James T Fortson was born on December 22, 1791, in Orange, Virginia, to Sarah Sally Head, age 15, and Benjamin Fortson, age 26. James married Elizabeth S Lewis in Elbert, Georgia, on December 16, 1814 when he was 22 years old. Some time between 1820 and 1825 he and his family moved from Georgia to Tuscaloosa, AL. They later moved to the Reid community in Chickasaw Co., MS where James passed away after 1840.
