Arthur Wellesley Foster (1855-1929) was the son of William Foster & his wife Emma Eliza née Anderton.
He was Educated at Merton College, Oxford where he graduated M.A.
He married Alice Madeline, daughter of Eben Dyer Jordan on November the 11th 1885 in Boston Massachusetts, U.S.A. The brides father (a millionaire) gave the couple Brockhampton Court, near Fownhope in Herefordshire, England as a wedding present.
Arthur and Alice boarded the Oregon steamer shortly afterwards, arriving in England on 6th December, when they traveled to Hornby Castle to be greeted by cheering friends, staff and children. The couple didn’t move into Brockhampton Court immediately as Arthur was ordained to a Staffordshire curacy and held a living in Lancashire.
