Biography

Cyrus W. Fister was born 5 September 1835 in Clarendon, Orleans, New York. He was the son of Michael Foster and Mehitable Singletary Jenison.

He married Malinda Maria Webster (1840 - 1929) on 5 July 1860 in Clarendon. They had one child and then shortly before her death they adopted the daughter of Ellen Foster and Richard Ilsen/Ikens who had disappeared.

Their biological daughter was Cora Adellah (1 February 1862 - 26 June 1870 in Clarendon Orleans, NY.) Their adopted daughter was Nellie Blanche (24 December 1869, Michigan - 24 July 1958, NY) who married John W. Burr then John A Bennett, with whom she each had one child.

He died 26 December 1928 in Clarendon.

CYRUS W. FOSTER, one of the oldest residents of this vicinity, passed away at an early hour Wed.morning, Dec 26, at his home in Clarendon, aged 96 yrs. His death occurred in the house which had been his home for more than 50yrs. He was the last of the fourteen children of Michael Foster, who came from Massachusetts to Penfield in 1810 and to Clarendon in 1818 and Mehitable Jennison Foster, whose home before her marriage was in Gainesville.

Mr. Foster was born Sept 5, 1835 in the town of Clarendon, of which he was a lifelong resident. In 1860 he was united in marriage to Miss Melinda Webster of Clarendon who survives him. He also leaves one daughter, Mrs Nellie Bennett of Clarendon; one grandson, Cyrus W.Bennett of Clarkson; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ward N.Housel of Clarendon, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 2 pm. Rev.E.W.Middleton officiating with burial at Hillside Cemetery.
