Joseph Foster was baptized on 19 Jul 1730, at the Chebacco Parish Church in Ipswich, in the Province of Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Jeremiah Foster and Dorothy Rust.[1] Since he was 74 when he died in December of 1804, he was probably also born in 1730.

Mary Foster (b. ca.1757; bp. 1 Sep 1760, First Parish Church)[3]
William Foster (b. 1 Aug 1775; bp. 1 Oct 1775, First Parish Church)
Lydia Giddings Foster died at the age of 52, on 27 Jul 1784, in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.[9]
Joseph's second wife was a widow: Hannah (Davis) Somes. They published their intention to marry in Gloucester on 30 Oct 1790 and probably married there before the end of the year.[10] Joseph and Hannah had no known children.
