When Edmund Foster was born in 1765 in Louisa, Virginia, his father, John Foster, was 46 and his mother, Averilla Haskew, was 40. He married Martha Betsy Powers on December 13, 1784, in Albemarle, Virginia. He died on August 5, 1837, in Albemarle, Virginia, at the age of 72.
Edmund Foster was born circa 1757, in Albemarle County, Virginia, where he enlisted as a Private in Captain John Marks Company, during the American Revolutionary War. Edmund attained the rank of Corporal, serving under the command of Colonel Charles Lewis, Colonel William Davies and Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Buford. After the War ended, Edward was awarded land grants as payment for his services. [1]
Edmund is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A132705. DAR records indicate that Edmund died August 5, 1837, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. His wife's name was Martha, but DAR has been unable to verify her maiden name. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their son, Gravet Foster, who married Margaret Patterson. [2]
