Hi! Could you check your sources? Essex County was served by Albemarle Parish... it may be that his death was in Albemarle Parish, not Albemarle County. (See more information on the category page for Albemarle County - Category: Albemarle County, Virginia Colony.)
ack - sorry! I got my Albemarle County cautions crossed. Albemarle Parish served Surry & Sussex counties (but not Albemarle County). Albemarle County was served by St. Anne's Parish, formed in 1744, which is a different St. Anne's Parish than the one formed in 1704 that served Essex County until after 1785. Whew. Sorry for (my!) confusion.
Thanks! Liz
