Charles was married first to Lucy (Austin) Foster (1769-1805). They lived in Andover, Massachusetts and had three daughters. Lucy died in 1805.
Charles married again in 1807 to Mehitable Chandler (1783-1826). Charles and Mehitable lived in Andover and they had four children.
At the time of the 1850 U.S. Census Charles was 83 years old. He lived in Andover, Massachusetts, two of his daughters and a granddaughter lived with him, and he was described as a farmer.
Charles died in Andover, Massachusetts July 10, 1851. He is buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Boxford, Massachusetts.

In his will written 4 March 1847 (probate 1851), Charles Foster made bequests to the following persons: daughter Rebecca and her husband Benjamin Robinson, granddaughter Lucy Frost, daughter Eliza Kimball wife of Enoch Kimball, Joanne C. Foster, Mehitable G. Abbot wife of Daniel P. Abbot, son Charles W. Foster, and son John P. Foster.[1]
