Biography

Sadly, Elizabeth Ellen Fothergill does not have many records available to us because she died so young.

Elizabeth was born on the 5th April 1846.^[1] She was the tenth child of twelve born to the couple, Henry Fothergill and Rosina Wingrave. She was baptised at 3 months old on the 5th July 1846 at St Andrew Holborn, London and her parents were confirmed as Henry John (a bookbinder) and Rosina.^[2]

According to her death certificate, Elizabeth passed away on the 16th August 1847 at 107 St John Street, Clerkenwell.^[3] The poor little soul was only sixteen months old but had been suffering from Mesenteric Diarrhoea for one month. She was buried on the 22nd August 1847 at Spa Fields, St James Clerkenwell, with her family's religion noted as the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion.^[4]
