"Catherine Fuger, Creole of Biloxi and daughter of Pierre Feugere and of deceased Etiennette Fregaste and wife of Pierre Luquet, a soldier in Lusser's company and from St. Eustache Parish in Paris and the son of Baptiste Luquet and of Marie Perrot married on June 7, 1735 at Fort Condé de la Mobile."[1]
LUQUET, Catherine (Feugere) [1736-1763] -(residing at Toulouse and vicinity in the year 1755) A Creole of Biloxi, daughter of Pierre Feugere or Feuger and Eltiennette Genet. Orphaned. Adopted by Jacques Branut (La France) and Clere le Clere. Branut died in Mobile on 20 Jul 1733. Catherine married Fusilier Pierre Luquet at Mobile on 7 June 1735. The couple had one daughter, Marie Catherine (b. at Fort Toulouse 28 Dec 1738),and other children: Pierre, Louise, Marguerite, Monique, Jean-Baptiste, & Georges. (Pierre [fils] served as a volontaire from 1/1760, when he presumably reached military age.) [2]
The record stated that Catherine Fuger's mother was Estienette Fregotte. The name was actually Genet. Fregotte was the grandmother's name, and this mistake was probably due to Catherine having been orphaned at an early age, and her adopted parents gave this information.[3]
