Around 1823 they settled in Shédiac and are one of the founding families of that town. [1]

He later married Dorothée Babineau on 18 February 1833 in Grande-Digue. [2] Their children were:

  1. Marguerite Fougère, born 19 Mar 1834
  2. Madeleine Fougère, born 17 Jan 1836
  3. Antoine Fougère, born 20 Feb 1838

  10. Sylvie Fougère, born 23 Apr 1853

In the 1851 census Henry, age 50, was listed with his wife Dorothy in Shediac, Westmorland (county), New Brunswick.[3] His children were listed on a previous census page: Anthony, age 19, Margaret, age 17, Magdaline, age 15, Estha, age 8, Docetta, age 6, Chotice, age 3, and Eustache, infant.[4]

In the 1861 census "Henry Foushear" (age 63) was a farmer in Shediac, New Brunswick.[5] He was born in Nova Scotia and lived with his wife Dorothy and children Magdelein (23), Anthony (20), Esther (18), Dosty (16), Judith (12), Eustache (10), and Silvea (8). They were listed next to the household of his son Dominick.

He passed away in 1862. Burial was on September 26th 1862 in Grande-Digue. [6][7]

Honoré et Madeleine font partie des familles fondatrices de Shédiac. "Vers 1823, Honoré Fougère et Madeleine Bellefontaine, originaires d'Arichat en Nouvelle-Ecosse, sont venus s'établir à Shédiac." [1]

Research Notes

The parents are marked uncertain. Researcher Marcel Walter Landry does not list Honoré Fougère as son of this family. [8]

According to Stephen White, this family had only one son, Joseph-Hilarion. [9]
