Marcy (Mercey) Fountain was born 15 Nov 1666 in Manokin, Somerset Co., Maryland.[1]
On March 3, 1681/2, "James Barnebe by a casualty was shot with a gun in the hands of Mercy Fountaine on the plantation where Edward Jones liveth the third day of March 1681 and was buried there fifth day of the same month."[2]
Ten years after the shooting incident Marcy was appointed a Constable on March 8, 1691/2.[3]
Marcy was listed in the 1724 tax list as living at Manokin Hundred in Somerset County. His son Samuel was listed as living with him. By the next year's tax list, he and Samuel were living in the household of his son John.
He wrote his will on 9 Nov 1726.
His death was before April 6, 1727 in when his will was probated in Somerset Co., Maryland.

Online genealogies have frequently been labeling Marcy as Samuel Marcy Fountain, but, it appears that there are no primary sources that list him as being named "Samuel." I have changed the name to just Marcy for the time being which can always be reverted to Samuel if documents are found to substantiate the initial claim. - Eric
