Levi Foutch is believed to have been born about 1811[1] in North Carolina[1] is estimated to be born between 1 January - March 22, 1807, which is based on his gravestone of being born in 1807, and lived to be 98. His parents are believed to be William Foutch and Mary UNKNOWN, and the siblings to be Levi and Martin Foutch.
Levi would serve in the Indian Wars[1]. He would serve as a private in the company commanded by Jas. Caldwell resigned & Joel Holiday was then made Capt. He would serve in the first regiment of Illinois mounted Volunteer & first brigade in the Black Hawk Wars. he enlisted in Equality, Gallatin Col, Ill on 16 May or June 1832 for the term of three months and was honourably discharged at Equality, Gallatin Co, Illinois on 16 August.
At the time of his enrollment in the Indian Wars, he was 5' 10 with blue eyes, dark hair, and a fair complexion, working as a farmer. And it appears that he would move to the Alexandria, Tennessee area immediately after, as he stated he'd been there for 60 years before completing his pension papers, putting his residence there about 1832[1]. At the time of his residing there, the portion of land he was on initially was Smith County,
It appears that he was granted a land warrant [1], and in the process, he had written to Capt. Halliday to give his attestation for the claim for Levi.

He first married Rachell Whitley in 1835[1]. She passed away about 1838, and he would remarry to Mahaley Whitley[1] in 1838. They were sisters, and when their father died an Exum Whitley was a guardian[2].
He would have a son by Mahala named William[2]
In the 1840 census, Levi was living at 1 Jun 1840 he was in 1840 Dekalb County, Tennessee - District 11.[3]
When Levi was about 36, he married Mahala Unknown in about 1844 in Tennessee, United States.[4]
In the 1850 census Levi (age 43) was living in South Division, Smith, Tennessee, United States.[5]
In the 1860 census Levi (age 53) was living in District 13, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[6]
In the 1870 census Levi (age 63) was living in District 1, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[7]
In 1880 Levi (age about 72) was living in DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.
Mahaley died on the 26th of Feb, 1883
On the 13th of March, 1893, Levi claimed Pension for his service during the Indian Wars[1]. William Foutch of Alexandria, Tennessee (aged 72), and Jackson Malone(72) signed as witnesses and had known Levi for 60-65 years; they did not serve with him. As part of this, he had written to Jas. L. Garrison, who had moved from DeKalb Co., Tenn, to Oklahoma between 1840-1845 to assist with the application for a land warrant. He
In the 1900 census Levi (age 93) was living in Civil District 1, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[8]
Levi died at the age of 98 on 22 March 1905 and was buried in Alexandria Eastview Cemetery, Alexandria, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[9][10]
