Florence Fowler was baptised on the 21st of March 1612/3 in St Decumans, Somerset, England[1]. She was the daughter of James Fowler, a yeoman, and Beatrice Fowler (nee Pound).
Florence married Thomas Greenslade, a yeoman of Knowstone in Devon, on the 2nd of July 1633 in St Decumans[2]. They had 9 children together, 6 sons and 3 daughters. Their first child was baptised just one month after they were married, indicating the couple married in haste once it became increasingly obvious that Florence was pregnant.
Her father-in-law, Phillipp Greenslade, left her 'one heifer yerelinge' and 'two ewe sheepe' in his will, which was written on the 7th of May 1639 and proved on the 10th of July later that year. [3].
Her father's will was written on the 16th of February 1653/4[4]. In it, Florence was given his bed. It was also willed that she would be paid 4 pounds a year as long as she lived, her brothers John and James responsible for paying half each. The will was proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 16th of May 1656[4].
Her father leaves things to her in his will, which was written in 1653/4, so she was still alive at that point.
