Christopher Fowler is Notable.

According to his Wikipedia entry, Christopher Fowler was the son of John Fowler and was born at Marlborough, Wiltshire in about 1610. [1]

He matriculated to Magdalen College, Oxford on 14 Oct 1631 aged 17 and took his BA in 1631/2. He continued his studies at St Edmund Hall and was awarded an MA on 24 Oct 1634. [2][3]

In 1640 he was appointed the rector of the parish of West Woodhay, Berkshire. It was at this time that he met Elizabeth Burgess aged about 25 of Marlborough, Wiltshire. Their marriage bondsman was Francis Roberts of the Cathedral Close, Sarum (Salisbury) and the document noted that Christopher was a clerk in the parish of West Woodhay.[4]

The following year, Christopher was named in the will of his wife Elizabeth's father William Burgess of Marlborough. [5]

In 1652 he was the rector of St Margaret Lothbury. He also became the vicar of St Mary, Reading and a fellow of Eton College.

An ardent protestant, his career suffered a blow during the restoration. He lost his fellowship at Eton and after the 1662 Act of Uniformity was ejected from his position at Reading.

He died at Southwark on 15 Jan 1676 and was buried in the churchyard of St John the Baptist Dowgate Hill. [6]

Christopher Fowler b1610 or 1611, mother/father William and Ann have incorrect birth and death dates. They both show 1550 birth, can’t be, son born 1611.

By the way, Christopher had 3 wife’s. His first son, John William Fowler b1638 was the son of Martha (Kendall) Fowler b? d1638. The other children were from Elizabeth b1611. The second wife was Agnes born Benson dies also in 1638.
