Biography

Cautionary Note

Three men named Henry Fowler died in or near Eastchester, New York, with two years of each other:

  • The oldest, Henry was born to Henry and Rebecca Newell in Providence in 1657. He married Abigail Hoyt and then Sarah ____. He died in Eastchester. His will was dated 5 March 1730 and proved 5 Dec 1733.
  • Henry, the first man's son, was born in Eastchester in 1679. He married Phoebe Horton, then Ann Drake. He died in Eastchester 7 months after his father. His will was dated 2 July 1734 and proved 12 July 1734.
  • This man, nephew of the first man and first cousin of the second man, was born to William and Mary Ann Thorne Fowler in Flushing on Long Island in what is now Queens, New York, in 1702. He died, apparently in Flushing, in November 1733.
  • It's confusing. Be sure you know which Henry you are dealing with.
