Biography

Joseph was a Friend (Quaker)

Joseph was the son of Richard Fox and Hannah Forster. He was born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 2 November 1792. His father is described as a surgeon in the Quaker birth record.^[1][2]

On 24 February 1816 Joseph married Anna Peters Tregelles at Falmouth Quaker Meeting House, Cornwall. The Quaker marriage record describes him as son of Richard Fox (surgeon, of Falmouth) and Hannah; and her as daughter of Samuel Tregelles (merchant, of Ashfield in the parish of Budock, Cornwall) and his deceased wife Rebecca.^[3][4] They had the following children:

• Anna Priscilla, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 23 February 1820^[5][6]
• Joseph John, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 6 August 1821^[7][8]
• Rebecca Smith, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 1 April 1823^[9][10]
• Richard, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 10 October 1824,^[11][12] died there on 19 April 1825 and was buried on 24 April at Falmouth Quaker burial ground^[13]
• Henry Tregelles, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 2 May 1826^[14][15][16]
• Richard Francis, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 20 December 1827^[17][18] died there on 29 November 1844^[19]
• Samuel Tregelles, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 1 August 1830,^[20][21] died there on 10 August 1860^[22]
• Catharine Mary, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 15 January 1832,^[23][24] died on 25 November 1832 and was buried on 28 November at Falmouth Quaker burial ground^[25]
• Edward Joseph, twin of Ellen Elizabeth, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 10 January 1834:^[26] his death was registered ate Falmouth in the 1st quarter of 1840;^[27] FindAGrave gives a death date of 9 March 1840^[28]
• Ellen Elizabeth, twin of Edward Joseph, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 10 January 1834,^[29][30] died there on 1 August 1834 and was buried on 5 August at Falmouth Quaker burial ground^[31]
• Nathaniel, born at Falmouth, Cornwall on 20 July 1835^[32][33]

Joseph died at Falmouth, Cornwall on 25 December 1861 and was buried at Budock Quaker burial ground, Cornwall.^[34][35][36] His death was registered at Falmouth in the fourth quarter of 1861.^[37]
