Mary was born about 1866, the daughter of Wilson G. And Mary A. (Tennant) Fox. In 1870, the Fox family lived in Newtown, Queens, New York. The household included Wilson G., 37, an importer of marble with $10,000 in personal estate; his wife Mary, 35; and their three daughters, Nellie, 11, in school; Hattie (Harriet), 8, in school; and Mary, 4. Also living with them were Alice McMann, 39, domestic servant, born in Terone, Ireland; and Elizabeth Fox, 35, a teacher (unclear relationship to Wilson, if any). All were born in New York, except for Alice, b. Ireland. [1]
