Norman Fox was born in Yorkshire, England.

Norman was born in 1873, and his birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1873 in the Dewsbury district.[1] He was the son of Joseph Fox and Martha (Reynolds) Fox.

1881 census Victoria Street, North Meols, Lancashire. The family came from, and were living in Batley, Yorkshire, however in 1881 Norman Fox 7 and his mother Martha Fox 44, were lodgers of Frances Moore 45, a Lodging House Keeper in North Meols. There were six other lodgers in the house all from Batley so this may have been some sort of family trip. [2]

1891 census: Bridge House, Grosvenor Road, Batley, Yorkshire. Norman's mother died about 1889 and his father remarried in 1891 to Mary Jane Reynolds. Norman J Fox 17, Assistant Woollen Manufacturer. Father Joseph 48, Woollen Manufacturer and step mother Mary J 43. Siblings, Rachel A Fox, 23, Arthur Fox 21, and William 19, single, also Assistant Woollen Manufacturer, Marian Fox 6. Servants, Mary A Tyrell 35 and Sarah A Lockwood 14. [3]

1901 census: 79 Warwick Road, Batley, Yorkshire, England. Norman J 27, single, Commission Agent, (Worsted & C), Father Joseph J Fox 58, Commission Agent, (Worsted & Cotton), and step mother Mary 53. Siblings, Rachel 33, single, William 29, single, Woollen Mill manager, and Marian 16, single, School Teacher. Cousin, Eleanor M Baker 28, single. [4]

1911 census: 79, Warwick Road, Batley, Yorkshire. Norman's father died in 1908 and in 1911 Norman 37, single, was living with his step mother Mary Jane Fox 63, widow. He was working as an Agent for Cottons, Worsted Yarns, Paper and Canvas (Employer). His two sisters Rachel Alice Fox 43, single, and Marian Fox 26, Certified Assistant Teacher. [5]

Marriage: Norman's marriage to Pattie Irene Radcliffe was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1911 in the Halifax district.[6]

1939 register: 4, Sussex Street, Batley, Yorkshire. Norman 66, Paper Canvas Coal Bag Merchant, and wife Pattie, 60, Unpaid Domestic Duties. They have a son Joseph 26, Manager and Distributer of Paper Canvas Coal Bags. Also Norman's sister Marian Fox 55, Certified Teacher. One line is redacted. [7]

Norman Jubb Fox of Spring Grove, East Bath Street, Batley died on 1 May 1942, and their estate passed probate on 15 June 1942 to Pattie Irene Fox, widow and William Henry Reynolds Fox , Retired Woollen Manufacturer, in Wakefield. [8][9] Norman was buried on 4 May 1942 in Batley Cemetery. [10][11]
