No later than 28 Jan 1724/5, when the Town of Glastonbury had provided Eunice Keeney; formerly the widow Eunice House, with 12 acres in the Five Mile Division, and probably much sooner than this land grant, widow Eunice (Fox) House was married second to widower Richard Keeney. [13]
Before his death on 19 Mar 1709, [14] her father Richard Fox Sr. had gifted to her brother Richard Fox Jr. a 50 acre tract of land in the Five Mile Division of Glastonbury, Hartford, Connecticut. [15] Possibly soon after the death of his first wife Mary Miles, her second husband Richard Keeney had moved to Glastonbury, Hartford, Connecticut, where Richard Keeney of Hartford purchased on 14 Sep 1714 from his brother-in-law by his second wife, Richard Fox Jr., this 50 acre farm in the Five Mile Division four miles east of the Connecticut River and adjacent south of the lot on the Glastonbury-Hartford border on the Glastonbury side. Richard Keeney Sr. of Glastonbury purchased from Jonathan Webster on 30 Mar 1737 a tract of 26 acres on the Hartford side of the Hartford-Glastonbury border. [17] Richard Keeney Sr. of Glastonbury was also named in a deed dated 07 Feb 1743/4 by which his son Richard Keeney Jr. of Hartford bought from Jonathan Webster a 35 acre tract of land in south Hartford bounding north on land of Richard Keeney Jr. and south on the 26 acres of land still owned by Richard Keeney Sr. after he bought it on 30 Mar 1737. [18] A week later on 16 Feb 1743/4, Richard Keeney Sr. of Glastonbury gifted his youngest son Benjamin Keeney with 25 acres, [19] believed to be part of the 26 acres purchased on 30 Mar 1737. This deed could have been the source of the often-cited estimated year of death ~1744 for Richard Keeney Sr.
However, 10 years later on 01 Aug 1754, in his last known land record, Richard Keeney Sr. of Glastonbury gifted his son Benjamin with 6 more acres of land bounding on the earlier 25 acres gift of 16 Feb 1743/4, [20] and so the estimated date of death for RIchard Keeney Sr. is currently after 01 Aug 1754.
