Dick was born in Eugene, Oregon to Kenneth Fox and Ellen Jean Hanna. He spent his childhood in Myrtle Creek, Oregon and later moved in his senior year to the block farms of Pasco, Washington with his family. Some of his early employments were at Charlie Cox farm, a millwright at the dam, and at Chevron Chemical. In the late 1960's Dick began his lifelong career with the railroad. He worked his way from an entry level position at the railroad to being terminal superintendent when he retired in 1999. He very much enjoyed his railroad career and the friendships that were begun lasted to the end. Dick was a man of many passions. In his younger days he participated in many sports and was an avid outdoorsman. After high school he spent four years in the Air Force and became a radio operator. This allowed him the opportunity to travel the world. After retiring he loved gardening and vacationing. Dick was never sedentary; he enjoyed hitting the road for spontaneous unplanned adventures with Susan and together they enjoyed camping, crabbing, casinos and visiting family and friends. He was a brilliant story teller and loved making his audience roar; his booming voice will echo in our minds forever. Dick never knew a stranger. He enjoyed family life very much and remained close to his family and extended family. Although Dick was a hard-working husband and father, he loved spending as much time as possible in the company of friends and family. He died in Kennewick, Washington.[1]
