Ozias was born in 1846. He was the son of William France and Priscilla Foreman.[1][2][3] In 1863, his father, William France, wrote his will, bequeathing to Ozias 40 acres in Blackford County, Indiana.[4] He married Susan Lucas in Greene County, Ohio, in 1864.[5] The family left Ohio and moved to Iowa. He passed away in 1942.[6]

Ozias France, 95, oldest resident of Tipton, died peacefully as he slept in his home in that city Friday morning. He had retired in his usual health.
Despite his age, Mr France had always done the work about the home, keeping the garden and lawn and shoveling snow in the winter.
He was born at Dunkirk, Ind., on April 22, 1846, and came to Iowa as a young man, settling first at Montezuma and later in the southern part of Cedar county where he farmed. His wife died nearly 30 years ago.
Survivors include two sons, James C. France, Tipton, and Arthur C. France, California; and six daughters, Mrs Emma J. Potter and Miss Margaret M. France, Tipton, with whom he made his home, Mrs Ida L. Ebert, also of Tipton, Mrs William Shapley and Mrs Herman Smith, both of Sibley, and Mrs Katherine Davis of Aberdeen, S. D.
