Biography
Martha France was born in Warrington, Lancashire, England in 1851. She was the daughter of Henry France and Mary Caldwell. [1]
In 1871 she was living with her parents and 7 siblings at Orford Street, Warrington. Her father was an Iron Turner [2]
Martha married William Henry Allison, a tailor's son, on 3 December 1871 at St Elphin's Church, Warrington. William was glasscutter. [3]
Both of Martha's parents died in the mid-1870's, and her brother James and sister Sarah moved in with her and her husband. Martha and William had (at least) 2 children. In 1881, the extended family were living at 27, Winwick Street, Warrington. [4]
She remaried Thomas Pepper in Warrington in 1885 and they had at 5 children.
