Biography

Oscar was born in Virginia. It is believed by some descendants that he was descended from Spanish immigrants who settled in San Francisco, California and took the city's name as their own.

When the family settled in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Virginia and East Kentucky, the surname was eventually changed to Francisco and then finally Sisco. The name has often been spelled as Cesco, Cisco and also Sesco.

Genealogical information appears to show that the Francisco (Franciscus) family was originally from Germany.
