Biography

John was born in July 1837. John Frank ... He passed away in 1919.[1]

John C. Frank was born in 1838 in Champaign, Ohio, the son of David Frank (1808-1890) and Leannah Harper (1810-1902). John married Mary Metcalf in 1861. They had at least two children, Charles Albert, and Grace L. John served in the Union Army during the Civil War. His wife, Mary died sometime between 1880 and 1889. In 1889, John married Ellen (Stahl) Porter (born 1851, PA, daughter of Hiram Stahl and Sarah Leah Boucher; married first, David Porter; died 1927). John died, aged 80-81, in 1919 in Hancock, Illinois. He is buried with his first wife, Mary, and other family at Fountain Green Cemetery, Hancock, Illinois.[2] [3]

John Frank served a s a Private in the Union Army during the Civil War, with Company C, 78th Regiment, Illinois Infantry.[4] [5]
