His middle name might be Winchester, haven't found a sourced to validate. he was the son of Stephen D Franklin and Temperance (Mason) Franklin.
James married 18-year old Cynthia Dockery on 19 January 1876 in Hopkins County, Kentucky. The ceremony was performed by J. R. Franklin at his residence.[3] He lived, farmed and raised their three children, Mary, Bailey Jasper and Dempsey Dawson in Charleston, Hopkins County, Kentucky.
In 1880, James, age 29, lived and farmed in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky with wife Cynthia and children, Mary and Bailey. [4]
In 1900 he was living in the same place with wife Cynthia and son Dempsey.

James died (suicide, gunshot), on 30 December 1930 in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky and was buried at Beulah Cemetery, Beulah, Hopkins County, Kentucky, [1][2]
