Lillian "Lillie" Franklin and her twin sister Rose Franklin were born on 29 July 1866 in Owen, Indiana, United States.[1] She was the daughter of Francis Marion Franklin and Charlotte Jane "Lottie" Edwards. The family lived in Franklin Township, Owen, Indiana, United States.[2][3]

Lillie Franklin (16) married Nathaniel Duling (23) (born on 23 August 1859 in Indiana; son of [father] and [mother]) on 4 March 1883 in Owen.[4] They were the parents of:

  • Edith Duling White (1884–1926)
  • Ross Francis Duling (1886–1969)
  • Ralph Gantz Duling (1889–1966)
  • Bruce Duling (1891–1893)
  • James Mount Duling Sr. (1900–1971)
